Job Description:
Responsible for directing brand marketing in crafting and implementing the marketing strategies for broader video and podcast network initiatives as well as individual launches. From concept through creation to execution and attribution you will direct the marketing team, responsible for the growth of video and podcasting across all aspects of Exactly Right Media.
Ongoing and daily duties and responsibilities include:
Work on strategic development and execution of multi-faceted marketing campaigns for new and existing Exactly Right video and podcast properties
Manage the marketing department to successfully meet network goals for audience growth, revenue and brand awareness
Align with brands on the development and production of marketing assets across all channels (video, digital, social, email, etc.) as well as innovative tactics to raise awareness of shows and increase downloads
Develop marketing strategy across existing portfolio and "go to market" plans for show launches that demonstrates the cross-marketing potential of Exactly Right, My Favorite Murder, and external distribution partners
Build audience acquisition and audience engagement efforts for each show (including but not limited to guest & talent cross-booking, community building via social channels/email and in-episode opportunities)
Negotiate and execute branded partnerships and integration opportunities across all media and live events (may require travel)
Collaborate with copywriter and production team to execute audio promotions and social media campaigns
Work closely with platform partners (iHeart, YouTube, Apple, Spotify, etc) to build relationships and improve promotional opportunities for new and current shows
Lead creative efforts with merchandising partners to develop, produce and promote merchandising for network and brands
Plan and optimize marketing spend/barters for all new show launches and ongoing shows
Coordinate with marketing team partners to manage publishing of network and third party cross-promotions
Gather and report on network-wide and individual show-based analytics, including show launch milestones as well as channel-level ROI and application of learnings across the network to present to senior level partners and brand leadership teams, as well as to provide recommendations on improving performance of shows post-launch
Develop budgets and "best practices" marketing playbook for organic and paid promotions
Regularly monitor, collate and share network mentions in the media
Vet and manage incoming press inquiries, and pursue press opportunities to engage in entertainment industry media conversations
Draft and distribute press releases, weekly release emails and manage PR for each launch/show announcement and tentpole events
Collaborate with the legal team to execute and promote contests, sweepstakes, and fundraisers
Oversee the social media team’s efforts and strategies for Exactly Right and My Favorite Murder and advise on social media tactics and best practices for individual shows
Own the full marketing launch cycle for new podcasts network-wide, including:
Develop audience estimates for new shows using an analytical approach
Work with designers and hosts to create podcast cover art, branding and merchandise for each show
Create launch plans for new podcasts on the network; reviewing and gaining approval for all strategies from producers and hosts
Work with hosts to write and develop marketing materials for ad sales team presentations and launch, including show and episode descriptions, bios, press releases, ad sales sheets, and promo copy
Work with the social media team to create marketing assets (audio and video promos, images, social media assets, newsletters, etc.)
Negotiate and coordinate tactical marketing efforts such as audio cross-promotions (within and outside of the network), feed drops, paid media, etc.
Education & Experience / Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree preferred, preferably in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications or similar fields
Significant experience in podcasting and/or digital marketing
Interest in true crime, comedy, pop culture and mystery topics
Proven track record of delivering audience growth from multiple digital advertising sources
Ability to execute key analyses and manage department workflows and approvals with minimal supervision (proficient in Excel/Google Spreadsheets, etc.)
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Experience managing cross-channel marketing process from development to implementation
Strong analytical skills and familiarity with online testing and optimization
Data-based examples of how you've built an audience / community engagement
Strong collaborator with ability to move between broad macro goals and tactical implementation
Qualifications:
Clear and precise communicator with a passion for the business
Strong understanding of how audiences behave and how to influence them and be relevant
Solid craft skills in copywriting, content creation, research and insights, creative ideation, production and presentation
An eye for great social design including video, audiogram and image treatments
Ability to handle a wide variety of tasks and assignments in a dynamic, fast-paced work environment
Knowledge of the capabilities and best practices of all key social media platforms
Big picture thinking plus relentless attention to detail
Proficiency in project management tools/systems
Work Environment
Standard office environment in Burbank
Some weekend, holiday and after-hours work may be required aligned to coverage of significant occasions (e.g. live events, award shows, political engagements, etc.)
A minimum amount of travel may be required
